How do I turn it on and off?

To turn the watch on, press and hold the middle button for about five seconds until the screen lights up. To turn it off, press and hold the middle button from the watch face, then go to Settings > General > Power Off.

How do the buttons work?

The watch has three buttons. Press the middle button (the crown) to confirm, enter, or go back, and rotate it to scroll through pages. The upper button changes function depending on the screen you're on. A short press of the lower button steps back, and a long press returns you to the watch face.

How do I change the watch face?

From the watch face, press and hold the middle button, then go to Settings > Customize to switch between the faces already on your watch. You can download more through the Suunto app.

How do I set the time and date?

When the watch is connected to the Suunto app, it syncs the time from your phone automatically. To set it by hand, go to Settings > General > Time/Date, where you can choose a 12 or 24-hour format, your time zone, and the date format.

What is it made of?

The bezel and case-back are titanium, and the lens is sapphire crystal, which rates 9 on the Mosh scale for scratch resistance. The case is a high-performance polymer, and it comes with a 22 mm quick-release silicone strap that you can swap out yourself.

What are the display specs?

The display is a 1.32-inch LTPO AMOLED at 466x466, with up to 2,000 nits of brightness so it stays readable outdoors, and it's full color.

How big is it, and how much does it weigh?

Race 3S is 46 mm across and weighs around 56 g with the silicone strap. The titanium build keeps it tough without making it heavy.

Water resistance for swimming / diving?

Water resistant is up to 5 ATM, so it's fine for swimming, everyday water exposure, and snorkelling, though it isn't built for scuba diving. Rinse it with fresh water after swimming or any contact with salt water, and keep it out of saunas and hot baths.

Does it have a flashlight?

The AMOLED screen doubles as an emergency flashlight. Open the Control Center and turn on the torch, and the screen switches to full-brightness white. It's handy in a pinch, but it drains the battery quickly if you leave it on.

How long does the battery last?

In daily use the battery lasts around 10 days. With dual-frequency multi-constellation GPS it runs for about 38 hours, and single-frequency GPS or Battery Saver extends that further, with Expedition mode lasting longer still. Real-world battery life depends on how you use the watch.

Fast charging support and full charge time?

Yes. Ten minutes on the charger gives you about 10 hours of dual-frequency GPS, and a full charge takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. We recommend a 5V/1A or higher USB charger.

Is there a battery-saver mode?

During an activity, you can switch to single-frequency GPS or Expedition mode to make the battery last longer. For everyday use, turning off the always-on display, lowering the brightness, and limiting notifications all help. When the battery runs low, the watch prompts you to switch on Battery Saver automatically.

Which satellite systems does it support?

It uses dual-frequency, five-constellation GNSS, covering GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS. The dual L1 and L5 bands cut down on the signal errors you get around tall buildings, so your position stays more accurate and stable.

Offline maps with or without subscription?

Yes, and they're free. You get global offline maps (exclude sanctioned countries and regions) with contour lines, place names, roads, and water features, with no subscription. There's 64 GB of storage for map data, and you download the regions you need through the Suunto app at no cost.

Route navigation supported? How to import?

Yes. Create a route in the Suunto app or import a GPX or KML file, then sync it to the watch. As you navigate, it shows your position, your track, the distance remaining, and your ETA, and alerts you if you drift off route.

What is Climb Guidance?

When you're following a route, Climb Guidance automatically shows the distance, ascent, average grade, and steepest grade of each climb ahead. Knowing that in advance makes it much easier to pace your effort, which is a real help on trail runs and in the mountains.

What is Race Planner?

Race Planner works out suggested pacing for each segment and an estimated finish time, based on the route's elevation profile, the weather, and your current fitness. The idea is to help you pace sensibly on race day so you don't burn out early.

Compass, barometer, storm alerts included?

Yes. It has a built-in compass along with barometric and temperature sensors, and it shows your altitude (from either the barometer or GPS), the pressure trend, and the temperature. If the pressure drops sharply, it sets off a storm alarm automatically. Calibrate the compass regularly and keep it away from sources of magnetic interference.

Can it show sunrise and sunset times?

Yes. The watch uses your GPS location to show sunrise and sunset times, which makes it easy to plan your time outdoors.

How many sport modes does it have?

There are more than 120 sport modes, covering running, trail running, cycling, swimming, hiking, mountaineering, triathlon, skiing, and paddleboarding, along with gym workouts and plenty more. You can also build your own custom modes.

Does it measure running and cycling power?

You get wrist-based running power straight from the watch, with no extra accessories needed. For precise figures you can also pair power meters over Bluetooth, including Stryd for running and cycling power meters, and the watch supports power zones.

Does it track running dynamics?

Yes, straight from the wrist. It captures metrics like cadence, ground contact time, and vertical oscillation.

Is there post-workout analysis?

Right after a session, the watch shows a summary with distance, time, pace, heart rate zones, calories, and elevation. For the deeper analysis, including graphs, laps, training effect, and recovery, open the Suunto app, which can also sync to Strava, and others.

Does it monitor heart rate, and is it accurate?

Yes. Wrist-based optical heart rate uses a new-generation sensor that's accurate for everyday wear and steady-effort exercise.

Does it monitor blood oxygen (SpO2)?

Yes, both on demand and during sleep. The readings are for reference only and aren't intended for medical diagnosis.

Does it track stress and recovery?

Yes. It reads your heart rate variability and heart rate to gauge your stress and recovery, and the recovery index in Training Zone helps you decide when to train and when to rest.

Which Bluetooth accessories work with it?

It works with standard Bluetooth LE accessories, including chest heart rate straps, speed and cadence sensors, power meters, Stryd, and running dynamics pods.

How much storage does it have?

It has 64 GB, double the previous generation, which is enough room for a large library of offline maps and thousands of songs.

Can it play offline music?

Yes, and it's a first for the Race series. Transfer your MP3 or WAV files to the watch, pair a set of Bluetooth headphones, and you can listen while you train without your phone. Playlists are managed through the Suunto app. Offline Music available via an over-the-air software update following product launch. Availability timing is subject to official announcement.

How do I connect Bluetooth headphones?

Go to Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth Headphones > Add new device, put your headphones in pairing mode, and select their name to connect.

How do I connect it to the Suunto app?

Download the Suunto app (iOS 17 or later, or Android 8 or later) and create an account or sign in. Choose Pair new device, make sure the watch is on with Bluetooth enabled, and follow the prompts to finish pairing.

What if syncing fails?

A few things to try: make sure Bluetooth is on and you're within about 10 meters; restart Bluetooth on your phone; force-restart the watch by holding the upper button for 20 seconds; unpair and pair again; and check that both the app and the watch firmware are up to date.

Does it show phone notifications?

Yes. Once it's connected to your phone, the watch shows incoming calls, texts, and app notifications.

OTA firmware updates supported?

Yes. When the watch is connected to the app, it tells you when new firmware is available, and you can also check by hand under Settings > About > Software update. Make sure the battery is well charged before you update.

Does it have an alarm, stopwatch, and timer?

Yes to all three. You can set multiple alarms, use the stopwatch with lap splits, and run a custom countdown timer.

Can it find my phone and control music?

Yes. You can ping your phone to make it ring, and control music playback on your phone, including play, pause, skipping tracks, and volume.

How do I factory reset it?

Go to Settings > General > Factory reset. A reset wipes all your data, so sync anything important to the app first.

What's the warranty?

Suunto's International Limited Warranty covers the watch for two years and accessories for one year from the date of purchase, against defects in materials and workmanship. The authorized service center decides whether to repair, replace, or refund, unless otherwise required by applicable local laws. Keep your proof of purchase, and it's worth registering at suunto.com/register. You'll find the full terms at suunto.com/warranty.

Can I repair it myself?

No. Opening the watch yourself can let water in and cause damage, and using non-original parts or unauthorized repairs voids the warranty. If something's wrong, get in touch through suunto.com/support.

How do I clean and care for it?

Rinse the watch with fresh water after you use it, and use a mild soap if you've been sweating heavily. Keep it away from chemicals like sunscreen and insect repellent, dry the charging contacts before charging, check the strap now and then for wear, and don't wear it in saunas or hot baths.

1. Suunto Race 3S is a flagship professional outdoor sports watch that tracks movement and other metrics such as heart rate, calories, distance, speed, and altitude. Suunto Race 3S is only for recreational use and not meant for medical purposes of any kind. This device is not a dive computer and must not be used for measuring any certified scuba diving or freediving activities.

2. Warning: To use the device, you must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

3. Warning: Always consult a doctor before beginning a training program. Overexertion may cause serious injury.

4. Warning: Allergic reaction or skin irritations may occur when products are in contact with skin, even though our products comply with industry standards. In such event, stop use immediately and consult a doctor.

5. Optical heart rate measurement from the wrist is a convenient way to track heart rate, but best results may be affected by: The watch must be worn directly against skin - no clothing, however thin, between sensor and skin; The watch may need to be worn higher on the arm than normal (sensor reads blood flow through tissue - more tissue = better readings); Arm movements and flexing muscles (e.g. gripping a tennis racket) can change sensor accuracy; When heart rate is low, the sensor may not provide stable readings (a short warm-up helps); Skin pigmentation and tattoos block light and prevent reliable optical readings; Optical sensor may not be accurate for swimming and freediving. For higher accuracy and quicker responses, use a compatible chest heart rate sensor such as Suunto Smart Sensor.

6. Warning: The optical heart rate feature may not be accurate for every user during every activity. Optical heart rate may also be affected by an individual's unique anatomy and skin pigmentation. Your actual heart rate may be higher or lower than the optical sensor reading.

7. Warning: Only for recreational use; the optical heart rate feature is not for medical use.

8. All data provided by this device (including but not limited to GPS track, navigation, distance, pace, altitude, barometric pressure, compass direction, training recommendations, Climb Guidance, real-time effort data, weather forecast, storm alerts, etc.) is for reference only and must not be used as the sole basis for navigation, safety decisions, or life-critical applications. Users should exercise independent judgment and carry additional reliable navigation equipment where appropriate. Suunto does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor compatibility with any third-party hardware or software.

9. GPS and sensor readings (heart rate, blood oxygen, altitude, barometric pressure, compass direction, temperature, etc.) may be affected by environmental conditions, calibration status, wearing position, signal interference, skin conditions, etc. Features dual-frequency five-constellation GNSS, but 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed under all conditions. Urban canyons, dense tree cover, and valleys may affect GPS accuracy.

10. Training recommendations and algorithm outputs from Climb Guidance, Training Zone, ZoneSense, etc. are for reference only and do not constitute professional coaching or medical advice. Users should adjust intensity and pace based on personal condition and stop exercising immediately if feeling unwell.

11. Storm alerts are based on barometric pressure trend analysis for reference only and do not replace professional weather forecasts or emergency warning systems.

12. Compass accuracy may be affected by nearby metal objects, electronic devices, magnetic fields, or other interference sources. Calibrate regularly and use away from sources of magnetic interference.

13. Temperature readings are significantly influenced by body heat when worn on the wrist. For accurate ambient temperature readings, remove the device and allow it to stabilize before measuring.

14. Water resistance: 5ATM/50m/5bar (IPX8), rated under specific laboratory conditions. Suitable for swimming, daily water exposure, and snorkeling, but NOT for scuba diving, high-speed water sports, or diving. Water resistance may decrease over time due to wear, impact, aging, or damage. Do not use in saunas, hot baths, or when exposed to chemicals including but not limited to sunscreen and mosquito repellents. After salt water/chemical exposure, rinse immediately with fresh water and mild soap; clean housing carefully with a moist soft cloth or chamois, paying special attention to pressure sensor area, water contacts, buttons, and charger pins. Do not leave the device immersed in water (even for rinsing).

15. Operating/storage temperature (above sea level): -20°C to +55°C. Recommended charging temperature: 0°C to +45°C. Altitude range: 0 to 10000m. Do not expose the device to temperatures above/below the given limits, otherwise it might be damaged or pose a safety risk. Do not leave the watch in direct sunlight!

16. Battery: rechargeable Lithium-ion, 3.87Vdc, charged via USB 5Vdc, 1A. Battery life: ~10 days daily use, ~45 hours dual-frequency full GNSS sports mode. Actual performance varies by usage habits, settings, and temperature. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.

17. Warning: Do not impact, crush, heat, puncture, short-circuit, or throw the battery into fire. Do not use if submerged in water. If the battery leaks, emits odor, or expands during use/storage, stop using immediately and stay away. Keep out of reach of children; seek immediate medical attention if swallowed or inserted into the body (ingestion can cause burns, soft tissue perforation, and severe damage within two hours). Do not disassemble, replace, modify, or remanufacture the battery.

18. Battery life varies depending on usage, settings, environmental conditions, and other factors. Battery life figures shown on this page are based on laboratory testing under specified conditions and are intended for reference only. Actual battery life may vary. Testing was conducted using specified GNSS, heart rate monitoring, display, wrist-raise activation, notification, and Bluetooth settings. Test conditions vary by battery mode.

19. Do not try to open or repair the device yourself. Moisture inside may seriously damage the unit. Only an authorized Suunto service center should perform service. Use only original Suunto accessories and chargers - repairs using unauthorized parts or modifications/repairs by unauthorized service centers will void the warranty.

20. Free global offline maps worldwide with no subscription fees (exclude sanctioned countries and regions), but map data is for reference only and may be delayed, incorrect, or incomplete. Navigate in conjunction with actual road conditions, official signage, and common sense. 64GB storage holds extensive map  data.

21. Supports offline music playback. Transfer MP3/WAV audio files and listen with Bluetooth headphones. Playlist management via the Suunto app. Offline Music available via an over-the-air software update following product launch. Availability timing is subject to official announcement.

22. Some features (weather, notifications, sync, OTA updates, map downloads, Group Ride location sharing, etc.) require Bluetooth connection to the Suunto app. Availability may be affected by device compatibility, OS version, Bluetooth quality, and network conditions. Bluetooth LE: 2402-2480MHz, max 0dBm, ~10m range; WLAN: 2412-2472MHz, 802.11b/g/n max 17dBm.

23. Suunto Race 3S is not a medical device. Health/physiological data (heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, HRV, stress, calories, training load, recovery, etc.) are for general health/fitness reference only and are not intended for medical diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease. If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, consult a doctor before use. If you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or other discomfort during exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention.

24. International Limited Warranty: Watches/smart watches carry a two (2) year warranty from original retail purchase; accessories (including but not limited to chest straps, straps, metal bracelets, chargers, cables, rechargeable batteries) carry a one (1) year warranty. Warranty covers defects in materials/workmanship only, remedied at Suunto Authorized Service Center's sole discretion via repair, replacement, or refund. Proof of purchase required; registration at suunto.com/register is recommended for global international warranty services.

25. Warranty does not cover: a) normal wear and tear (scratches, abrasions, non-metallic strap color/material changes; sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant but not shatterproof); b) defects from rough handling; c) defects/damage from misuse, improper care, negligence, dropping or crushing; d) printed materials and packaging; e) defects from non-Suunto products/accessories/software/services; f) non-rechargeable batteries. Warranty is void if: product is opened beyond intended use; repaired with unauthorized parts or modified/repaired by unauthorized service center; serial number is removed/altered/illegible; or exposed to chemicals (including sunscreen and mosquito repellents). Suunto does not warrant uninterrupted/error-free operation or third-party compatibility.

26. Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, this Limited Warranty is your sole and exclusive remedy in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied (including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose). Suunto is not liable for special, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of expected benefits, loss of data, loss of use, cost of capital, cost of substitute equipment, third-party claims, or property damage, even if advised of the possibility. Suunto is not liable for delay in warranty service, nor for loss of use during repair/replacement.

27. The user assumes full responsibility for all exercise decisions, navigation choices, pacing strategies, and safety judgments based on device data. Always remember: you are responsible for your own safety. Suunto accepts no liability for any personal injury, death, property loss, or other damage resulting from use or reliance on device data.
