The premium SUUNTO 9 BARO TITANIUM, an evolutionary model with cool design and light weight, will be available from March 30th, 2012.

Helsinki, Finland (March 30, 2011) - SUUNTO, the world leader in sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments, today announced the addition of a new premium variant to its award-winning sports watch SUUNTO 9.

The all-new SUUNTO 9 BARO TITANIUM offers up to 170 hours of GPS sports tracking in “Tour Mode” and an even longer battery life.

Suunto Nine Baro TITANIUM is made from premium grade 5 titanium and features a new minimalist design, turn-by-turn navigation with komoot and a host of other outdoor features. In addition, it has been tested against the U.S. military standard [MIL-STD-810] to ensure durability under all conditions.

New Design and Product Description
The new SUUNTO 9 BARO is a premium upgrade to the brand's flagship sport watch, designed for the most demanding outdoor sports and adventures. Two color variations inspired by the matte surface. Two color variations inspired by the matte surface: Matte Black Titanium and Stone Gray Titanium.

The brushed metal parts have a durable fingerprint-preventive coating to improve resistance to dirt and stains.

The textile straps are made of water repellent and durable nylon webbing and, like the premium outdoor shell jackets, can withstand prolonged exposure to water and sun without compromising their properties. The product also comes with two different length straps, medium and large.

Updated functionality [Up to 170 hours of GPS sport tracking with new GPS tracking feature “Tour Mode
In addition to the three battery modes (Performance, Endurable and Ultra), a new GPS tracking feature, Tour Mode, has been added.

The new Tour Mode allows for up to 170 hours of continuous GPS sport tracking, which is equivalent to up to 7 days of continuous tracking, instead of the previous 25 to 120 hours with GPS tracking on.

(*The GPS point is then made once per hour, allowing you to continue tracking your progress with much lower battery consumption).

Feature Update [Integration with Komoot
Turn-by-turn navigation with one of the industry's leading route planning tools, Komoot, can now provide users with alerts to help them avoid missing turns.

Komoot works in all countries except China, but there is no Japanese language support at this time.

Connect to komoot via the Suunto App. All Suunto watch purchasers get two free map regions from komoot as part of the SUUNTO Valuepack.

Search or plan your tour with Komoot.

Routes are automatically synced to the Suunto App. You can then select a route and sync it to your watch. All outdoor activities recorded on your Suunto watch are automatically synced to both the Suunto App and the komoot.

Turn Alerts:

As you navigate, the watch will alert you about your next turn. This makes the navigation experience much more enjoyable as you no longer need to monitor the screen to see which direction you are going.

POI (Point of Interest) Navigation

POIs are used to store special locations such as campsites or Vista Points along the trail for later navigation. A POI is created when you save your current location in Watch.

Save POIs. Save important locations in advance to the SUUNTO app or save your current location on the go with your watch. Navigate to these POIs with your SUUNTO watch. While navigating towards a POI, you can see the name of the POI, as well as the direction and distance to the location.
