What is the difference between Suunto Core and Core 2?
Core 2 keeps the tool-watch DNA of the original Core and upgrades nearly everything around it: a switchable red and green backlight, stronger 10 ATM water resistance, a higher-contrast display, and larger buttons with better feedback. It also adds Bluetooth for time sync and updates, moon phases, and a refreshed, more modern design.
Can it be used offline?
Yes. Core 2 is designed to work completely off-grid. The altimeter, barometer, and compass all run without GPS, a phone, or a signal, so you stay oriented and informed even where there's no connectivity at all.
Can it be used in extreme environments?
Yes. Core 2 is tested to durability standards and built to handle heat, cold, moisture, shock, and rough handling. With 10 ATM water resistance and a long-life replaceable battery, it's made for demanding outdoor conditions.
How is altitude measured?

How accurate is the compass?
Core 2 has a precise digital compass with bearing lock to hold a heading, plus magnetic declination adjustment so you can align magnetic north with true north for your location. It works entirely offline. For best accuracy, calibrate it regularly and keep it away from magnetic interference.
